Top 10 Google Nexus 6P features: 4K video, fast charging and Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Google’s announcement of the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones, and the Pixel C productivity tablet, formed its first major product unveiling since becoming a division of the newly formed parent company Alphabet.

The Nexus 6P in particular has the distinction of being Google’s first post-restructure handset, something it will bear in mind when going up against the iPhone 6S Plus and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ later this October.

The good news for Google and potential users is that the Nexus 6P is kitted out with exactly the kind of quality software and hardware that a fledgling phablet will need to compete at the high end. Here’s V3‘s curated list of its most promising features, from upgrades on the Nexus 6 to brand new additions.

10. Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor

Qualcomm Snapdragon

We’ve had mixed experiences with the Snapdragon 810. In the Sony Xperia Z3+, it was a ruinously overheating chip that spoiled an otherwise fine smartphone. In the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, it was a great little powerhouse, delivering top performance without the heat. Having gone hands-on with the Nexus 6P, we were pleased to find that it stayed well within comfortable levels of warmness, leaving only the processing power of its eight 2GHz cores and generous 3GB of RAM.

This makes for some suitably swift performances in multitasking and intensive individual apps. The Snapdragon 810 may be an older chip, with a not entirely glorious history – and ultimately destined to be replaced by the upcoming Snapdragon 820 – but here it feels fully capable.
