The August Bank Holiday Monday is seen by many as the end of summer, and the weather seems to agree.

People trying to enjoy their day off will be met with classic British weather of scattered heavy showers throughout the day.

Notting Hill Carnival will be particularly wet, with showers forecast for most of the morning and afternoon over London.

The grey clouds are set to clear away overnight however with a better start expected for Tuesday (when everyone is back at work).

It might be little consolation to know that things will be fairly warm in the south-east, as the temperatures in Kent are predicted to reach 19C, but sadly it won’t stop the rain.

A Met Office spokesperson said: ‘We will see outbreaks of rain across the country which will be heavy at times, particularly in the south-east and in London.

‘Scotland and Northern Ireland might see some sunny spells, but these two will be interjected with scattered showers which will also be fairly heavy’.
