Witnesses Contradict Sheriff’s Deputy Account of Killing Unarmed Man

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC – Sheriff’s deputies were involved in a shooting, which ended in the death of the suspect, according to a report from a local news station WYFF4 . The man, a passenger in a car who was reportedly sleeping when deputies were called to investigate a ‘suspicious vehicle’, was unarmed at the time of the incident.

Sheriff’s deputies made a statement (posted below), claiming that the victim was a threat to officers, however at least two witnesses immediately disputed these claims. Deputies stated that the man did not comply, then got out of the car,

“He actually turns towards one of the deputies, advances on him, reaches into his waistband”

This was the rationale for killing this unarmed man. However, witnesses say this statement is a total lie. In fact, according to an eye witness, the victim was still inside of the car and was no threat to the officers when he was shot.
