Most cat owners expect their felines to bring home mice or rats and maybe the occasional bird – but not a bag of cannabis.
A New Zealand woman called police when her cat brought her the unlikely present.
Dunedin police said they received a call from the woman, who said the cat had dropped the bag of marijuana on her doorstep.
‘It was approximately 5g of cannabis,’ Sergeant Reece Munro told the Otago Daily Times.
‘It has a street value of between $100 and $150′ (about £51).
Munro went on to say that although dogs are normally used to detect drugs, he is open to the idea of cats being trained to sniff out narcotics.
‘We certainly have police dogs trained to detect drugs – this might be something police could explore in the future,’ he said.
