A woman who claimed her dog had shot and killed her boyfriend has been charged with murder.
Tyaina Finch told police the gun which killed Mark Hudson, an off-duty policeman, was in the pet’s mouth when it was fired.
Mr Hudson died last Saturday at his home in Philadelphia.
Police say Finch, 27, later changed her story and said she shot Mr Hudson in self defence, having initially said she was trying to wrestle the gun from the animal.
District Attorney Jack Whelan said: ‘We believe she acted on this particular day with specific intent to kill.’
It is also alleged that she had threatened her boyfriend with a knife last summer.
